Best Man

Lets's start off with a mind reading experiment.  You're a man, your friend/brother has just got engaged, you've been appointed best man and you've probably got no idea what you've to do. 

How did I do? 

I was there once upon a time and although the majority of my income comes from weddings I found myself a tad lost.  So I hope this information is helpful. 

What does the best man do?

Your job is in 3 sections, before the wedding, during the service and the day after.  The most important stage to complete if you are to be a good best man is the pre-wedding.  it's just like an exam; yes you can cram the night before and yes you'll get through the big day, however, you'll be stressed out and you wont enjoy it as much.

1.       Organises the stag do

2.       Goes with the groom to get kilt/suit

3.       Gets a wedding present

4.       The night before the wedding he attends the wedding rehearsal

1.       Make sure the groom hasn’t ran away

2.       Collect cheques from the groom (photographer, magician/entertainers etc)

3.       Organise the ushers

4.       Know where the presents are going

5.       Hold the rings

6.       Silver and gold coins (sometimes used during the service)

7.       Sign the marriage document

8.       Speech

9.       Dance with bridesmaids

10.   Dance with bride

1. Return the wedding attire.
