Howdy, as many of you know, I consider myself to be a magical entertainer more than your classic magician. My main focus is on providing an entertaining / enjoyable experience over the actual magic content in the act. To improve my presentation and just for a laugh I decided to attend a stand-up comedy course @ Strathclyde university and performed my 5 minutes of comedy without even a hint of magic. It went really well (people actually laughed) and I’ve stuck with it over the last year and have a polished 5 minute act that’s really tight and funny. However, to get anywhere in comedy you need to start doing 20 minute shows so I’ve decided to stand up and make a full of myself at the halt bar’s Free comedy night. This night is hosted by one of my friends Malky who provides an opportunity for any comedian from first timers to experienced professionals. The idea is to provide an environment to try out new stuff to hopefully uncover a wee gem of comedy to be included in your main act. The nights therefore consist of a lot of jokes that erm, well die! But the professional compere and headliner generally save the day with one or 2 new acts doing well also. So February 16th will see my good self trying out some brand new jokes on tea, sniffer dogs, Christmas presents and relationships. 20:30 – 11:00 Free comedy - no ticket required, just turn up. (donations accepted) 160 Woodlands Road, West end Glasgow, between The Stand and Sauchiehall street
