Decided to take the train and protect my carbon foot print when I met a lovely young female called Lisa. We basically moaned about how the train was late and then I showed her my world famous card trick. I asked her to draw a smiley face on it and thinking that she’d keep the card I asked her to put today’s date on it. Now I’ve been doing this trick for about 4 years and I’ve never asked anyone to put a date on the card before. To my amazement she wrote 25/11/09. Bearing in mind today’s date is 25/02/2010. I had no idea what why she had written the wrong date. Neither did she and she freaked out when I pointed out it was wrong. I think she thought I had hypnotised her, well either that or she’s been waiting on that train for an awfully long time. Got to the gig soaking which is never good, so really need to think about this train game in more detail in the future. Had a lot of fun at the event which is always a bonus – don’t know why just seem to be performing my close-up magic slightly better than before. Weird Stuff
Anyhow, at one of the tables I was offered a beer. Everything inside me basically said, “Drink the beer during the act – it’ll be fun and different”. However, the other part of me thought it would look unprofessional. When I perform I really go with the flow and have a lot of fun so I still feel like I should have drunk it but, I think at the end of the day I can have fun but still have to act professionally. Two really weird things happened as well. I’m known as one of the few people to perform with ropes. Paul Daniels once said rope magic was the most complicated form of magic technically and this is why many magicians don’t use it. Today I performed my rope routine at 5 different groups. Over the last 4 years I must have performed this routine around 1000 times and the rope I hand out has been tied in a knot by an audience member maybe 5 times. Tonight, every single person holding the rope tied a knot in it – weird! I was performing my world famous card trick and the first table picked; 5 of hearts, second table, 5 of clubs, third table 5 of spades. At the interval I swapped decks for a new one and the next 2 tables picked; 5 of hearts and the 5 of spades respectfully. When I went to my next table the person asked for the 5 of hearts but I had to ask them to change their mind to something else and they said the 10 of hearts which is still in the 5 times table. So here comes the big moment where I am at the top table and I ask the spectator to think of a card and I say, “Let me guess, your thinking of the 5 of hearts” and she says, “No the Queen of Clubs” AAAAAAGH!!! Anyhow, lovely venue and met loads of nice people. Until next time Keep Smiling!
