Approaching strangers with real magic on the street is dangerous and would not work without the aid of the cameras, lights and the dude carrying the sound boom. However, Dynamo is advertising himself as a magician i.e. he performs with magical powers. People believe he has magical abilities - for this charisma and personality aren't required (as much) however the acting ability and performance is required. Penn and Teller Fool Us is what a magic show should be as even magicians are fooled, can anybody here say that they haven't been fooled at least once whilst watching Fool Us. Also if someone slightly weird looking approached anyone on a Scottish street he is more than likely to get a head for his freakyness.
