The Scottish Conjurers Association close-up magic contest took place in the west end of Glasgow on March 18 2007. This is a highly respected contest throughout the UK. Each contestant is given 10 minutes to wow the judges with a mixture of magic and entertainment.

Chris Dinwoodie was crowned champion for the first time on 2007, with an act containing cards, poker chips and even a bottle of wine.

2008 Saw Chris defend the title with an act consisting of coins, ropes and elastic bands. A month later, Chris entered his act into, ‘The Scottish Association of Magical Societies’ close-up contest. The contest contained fellow professionals, the former young Scottish magician of the year and even a magician from Portugal.

However, Woody’s mixture of magic and comedy was enough to pip his competitors becoming the first magician to win both of the largest magic contests in Scotland.
